Sydney Newborn Photography | Close-up macro shots

Recently, my favourite part of my Sydney Newborn Photography sessions is taking the close-up (macro) shots of all of the beautiful babies.  These shots capture the details of your brand new baby – simple, classic  and timeless. I will admit that when I first started my career as a newborn photographer, these were not the images that I thought would be my favourite – but as a mother of four children, these are the small details that are most important – the shape of those tiny little lips, your baby’s profile, the little feet and nose – you will want to remember all of your baby’s little features.  These macro images are included in every session and are placed on a double spread page in the album. Most parents tell me that the spread of the macro images is their favourite in the whole album.

These are some of the macro images of tiny little Elsie from her newborn photography session.  She has the most perfect skin, chubby cheeks and kissable lips. She slept through the entire newborn photography session – you can see her quiet nature in these gorgeous sleepy images. Isn’t she just divine!

For other photographers out there, I shoot all of these macro shots on my Canon 100mm f/2.8L macro lens – it is worth investing in a proper macro lens for these images so that you can properly capture all of the details of the skin and retain sharp focus for the close-ups.
